José Antonio Dominguez Banderas (born August 10, 1960), commonly known as Antonio Banderas, is a Spanish film actor and singer. He began his career acting in 19 years with a series of films directed by Pedro Almodovar and then starred in high profile films in Hollywood, including murderers, Evita, hearty, Interview with the Vampire, Philadelphia, the mask of Zorro and Shrek sequels.
Banderas was born in Malaga, Andalusia, southern Spain, also known as Tony flags to his English friends, the son of Anna chick Banderas, a school teacher, and Jose Dominguez, police Guardia Civil. He has one brother, Francisco. Banderas was raised as a Roman Catholic and is now a very strong supporter of faith. He took his family on his mother's stage name. He originally wanted to play professional football, but his dream ended when he broke his leg aged 14. As a young man he traveled to Madrid to make a career in the Spanish film industry.
